Aggie: 2015 Final Blog!!!

When I leave Corinna school I want to be remembered for being apart of the Yr 4, 5 & 6 netball team and being a committed netball player. Whenever I am unavailable to come to a game, I will always let my coach know I will turn up to every netball training so I am prepared and ready for the next game.

I will always remember and never forget all of my old memories from Corinna Since the day I started school to the day I left because my old memories were really important to me & it was mostly apart of my life.

Before I leave Corinna School I would like to thank all the kids and their whanau, teachers, My whanau & Others who cared, loved and supported me throughout these years at Corinna, thank you soo much guys I hope to see all of yous soon.

And I would also like to thank the principle Michele Whiting for being a very great principle to all us seniors. You have helped me throughout this journey at Corinna School, It has been a pleasure for me to come to Corinna and thank you Mrs Ardelle for teaching me lots and lots of things since I first started

A challenging time was when I was young about 8 or 9 years old, I always used to be shy in rm 3 because I didn’t know what the answer to the question was and what came first second and third, but then throughout these years I have been stepping out of my comfort zone to share my opinions and ideas to others and always being open.

Some people who helped me achieve my goals were my friends, Claudia & Sophie Also my family members My Dad & Mum and my sisters and brothers when they weren’t busy. So I would like to thank them so thank you guys I love yous and God Bless.

The best thing about Corinna School Is that my teachers were very very nice to me and so as the principal. Also It was easy making new friends when I first started school and when I was moving into different classes and last but not least we were a very very very VERY!!! sporty school. LOVE YOU CORINNA XX!!!

How I Shone at Polyfest!!!

On Wednesday ,the 5th of August Corinna School had their Polyfest Concert. We performed at a lovely church, called Hosanna Church in Cannons creek.

There were different kinds of cultures that performed. There were Contemporary Maori, Senior Samoan, Junior Samoan & the Cook Island group (That was mixed with Cambodian).

I was in the Senior Samoan group. When we walked on the stage all we could see was hundreds and hundreds of people sitting in front of us, along with the cultural groups that had already performed.

I shone at polyfest when I stepped up to be a leader, helping the juniors with their actions so they didn't get muddled up. I had to show them how to sing loud and proud.

When we were performing in front of the audience we felt strong & proud of each other. We had stepped out of our comfort zones to present this Item for them but also others were shy and were starting to get a bit confident to make sure they were being a part of the group.

I also shone when I was using my best self managing skills by staying focused during the performance & not getting distracted by anyone near me.

When I walked off the stage seeing my parents, proud of my performance, I felt very proud of myself and I almost cried. It was tears of joy. I can’t wait for Polyfest in 2 years!!!.

Kapo Kapo Learning Story!

On Tuesday the 23rd July Corinna School performed at Kapo Kapo at the Arena in Porirua. The Corinna School Pasifika group preformed their cultural items first. I was in the Samoan group and the girls performed Siva Samoa and the Sasa!

I really enjoyed dancing in front of an audience for the first time at Kapo Kapo!!! I felt really proud because I was representing my whole school and my family. I felt proud when I heard people say "WOW CORINNA SCHOOL WAS AWESOME!"

Here is a link to the Pasifika groups performance! HOPE YOU ENJOY!

Netball Learning Story!

Every Saturday the Corinna Netball teams have netball at the Mungavin Courts. Us Corinna kids love to play netball because it is a really good exercise for us and a really fun game to play during the weekends. I have been playing netball for about 2 years now.

I have been relating well to others when we have training and at the real game. When I am relating well to others I am using welcome words, being friendly on the court, self managing when my coach is not there & mostly respecting others in my team, and of course my coach and the other team too.

We also have training's every Tuesdays & Thursdays to help us get prepared for our Saturday games for e.g. It makes us fit, helps us to get more used to the game & play it by the rules.

Relating well to others has helped me in training for e.g. when I am listening respectfully to my coach & others while they're speaking, I can learn something that I didn't know & use it when I go off to netball. Training has helped me get fit, be more use to other positions that I haven't played yet!.

Next Steps: To focus on working well with my partner GA & shooting the ball and getting it in the goal.

Chromebook Ambassador Learning Story!

In the library me and my Chromebook ambassador buddy's were presenting our work to a few visitors: new members of the Te Mana o Kupe Trust.

The Key Competency skill I used most was being confident in front of visitors for example, stepping out of my comfort zone to present the learning I do on my Chromebook, to explain to the visitors what we can do and what sort of learning tools we use.

Being a Chromebook ambassador has helped me a lot to step out of my comfort zone and to present my work confidently to an audience. I have to speak in a loud and clear voice so the audience can hear and understand what I was telling them.

I have to give eye contact so they feel welcomed and so they knew who I am telling the information to.

Good Friday Learning Story!

Every Friday Morning Ngati Awhina has a program called Good Friday!. We have been split into groups in each activities and get to learn more about a subject that interests us.

Here are some activities we do in the morning, music Including, learning how to play a guitar or the Drums and learning how to play the keyboard.

During Good Friday the key competency skill I use the most is Self Managing, because we need to be able to work on our own or in a learning group and stay focused on what we are doing. I can self manage every time the leader asks us to do something or to teach others what he / she has taught me.

Using self managing skills has helped me to learn to play the guitar and be a role model in front of other kids in my group. It has also given me the confidence to teach other people how to play the guitar, like Ashee-Prayz.

This is some evidence from Ashlee-Prayz's blog:

Writing Learning Story!

In Writing I have been learning to use descriptive language to describe the character & make the reader understand so he or she could paint a picture in their head of what they can see happening in the story and where it’s taking them to.

I can use what I've learnt from my reading to help me describe, explain in my own writing for e.g I came to, sore and tired. My head was pounding & my heart was broken.

I can use my notes from my research (INFO) and put it into my own words to make it sound more interesting, for e.g. I gently opened the door then saw a postman standing right in front of me as if I was in big trouble.

I have also been learning to group all my ideas into paragraphs and put it into order e.g I can order it in what came first, what came next, then what came, after, Then finally what came last!

Next Steps: To use direct speech to show the reader how my reader is feeling and what is happening instead of just telling them. This helps the reader to visualise my story and make it more interesting.
